July 1st
Happy Canada Day, fellow Canadians. It's a very wet and windy one in my part of the country, so most outdoor festivities in the city have been cancelled. Not that it makes much difference to me as I'd be spending the day at home regardless, but I feel for those who wanted to be part of the celebrations today. I will miss the fireworks, as some are usually visible from my windows or a spot in the grounds or parking lot. Yes, yes, I know that fireworks are upsetting to some, but I have a deep and abiding love of colour and sparkle.
Citizenship ceremonies went ahead as scheduled today. The happiness and enthusiasm of the new Canadians is always a reminder of how lucky we are to live where we do. It's too easy to take our rights and privileges for granted, No country is perfect, but Canada is doing pretty well overall and we should be grateful for all that we have here.
I'll leave you with a bit of classic Canadiana. Enjoy!
