Return to Blogland
Greetings, salutations, etc., etc. After an absence of far too long, I've returned to the place where all of the cool kids hang out. Or at least they used to hang out here. Not sure how many are still around, but I'll soon find out. I've missed this place! I never fell out of love with blogging, but life circumstances and a pesky chronic illness negatively affected my ability to churn out quantities of words in pretty much any medium. Writing literally gave me brain ache, plus it has taken several years to overcome having my voice silenced in a metaphorical sense during my former marriage and in other relationships.
At the beginning of the year I chose "courage" as my word for the year. Fear became so engrained for so long and there are a myriad of ways in which I want to step boldly out of its clutches. Speaking up and speaking out is probably the most important one. I don't verbally communicate with a lot of people on a day to day basis as I'm mostly stuck at home because of my ME/CFS symptoms. Writing, however, was always a favourite way of communicating from childhood, and blogging is a great vehicle for expressing thoughts and sharing points of view.
Obviously life with chronic illness is going to be an ongoing theme here, as it dominates pretty much every aspect of my life. Advocacy and activism really matter, as so many with this and other chronic illnesses are misunderstood, neglected, and lack the ability to speak for themselves. My other main blogging goals are distraction from the nonsense of day to day living, and connection with other humans out there. I have loads of interests and a pretty decent weird sense of humour, so hopefully there will be some entertainment value in my posts, too.
It's good to be back!
